Program Overview
The 2026 Japanese Cultural Trip offers high school students a one-week cultural and linguistic immersion in Japan. Students will stay with host families or in hotels/hostels, visit schools, engage in local events, and explore major cultural landmarks. The optional three-day extension provides additional experiences in Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka.
Purpose of the Trip
The trip is designed to:
give students the opportunity to experience Japan firsthand
build independence and confidence
improve Japanese language skills
create lifelong friendships
offer a high-quality cultural experience at an affordable cost
Activities
Homestay & School Experiences
Students will experience daily life in Japan through:
homestays or hotel/hostel stays
visits to middle and high school classrooms
-交流 with local students and teachersparticipation in school-based cultural activities
visits to local city halls and community organizations
These experiences deepen cultural understanding and build meaningful personal connections.
Cultural Experiences
Students will take part in hands-on cultural activities that highlight traditions rooted in local communities—connecting modern Japan with long-standing cultural practices.
Sightseeing Highlights
Tokyo:
Tokyo Skytree, Asakusa (Sensōji & Nakamise), Akihabara, Harajuku
Optional Kyoto–Nara–Osaka Tour:
Kyoto (Kinkaku-ji, Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari)
Nara (Tōdai-ji, Great Buddha, Nara Park)
Osaka (Osaka Castle, Umeda Sky Building, Kaiyukan Aquarium)

⚠️ The first two payments will be applied toward the final total cost. Once airline tickets are purchased, payments are non-refundable. All payments must be made via bank transfer.

Program Independence & Liability
Students participate in this trip independently during their school spring break. The program is not sponsored by any school or school district, and neither the schools nor MLC bear legal responsibility for student supervision or safety.

Estimated cost per student: $3,500–$3,700 Optional tour: ~$1,000
